I am writing regarding the outstanding workplace pension benefit relating to the late Mr David Singfield, who sadly passed away in October 2014.

Mr Singfield was the husband of my late sister, Mrs Kathleen Singfield, who unfortunately passed away in November 2022 after a period of ill health.

My name is Edna Davis, and I am Kathleen's sister. Throughout the later years of her life, I was not only her sister but also her primary carer and closest companion. As her health deteriorated, she placed a great deal of trust in me and appointed me as her Lasting Power of Attorney, allowing me to manage her financial affairs and assist her with all aspects of her day-to-day life.

I cared for Kathleen throughout her illness and remained by her side until she passed away. We shared an exceptionally close relationship, and I supported her in every way possible during what was an incredibly difficult time.

Before her passing, Kathleen prepared a valid will, in which she made her wishes very clear. She chose to leave her financial assets and estate to me, while leaving her property to my nephew, Raymond Chambers. I have always respected and carried out her wishes to the best of my ability and have continued to deal with her affairs since her passing.

I understand that there remains an outstanding workplace pension benefit relating to her late husband, David Singfield, and that your organisation is currently seeking to establish the correct recipient before releasing the funds.

As David's surviving spouse, Kathleen would naturally have been the person to whom any benefits may have become payable following his death. Sadly, as she has since passed away, I believe it is appropriate that you consider my position as the beneficiary of Kathleen's estate and the individual entrusted with managing her financial affairs.

To assist with the administration of Kathleen's estate, I have retained control of her Santander bank account, which remains open for the purpose of receiving and distributing estate funds where necessary. Should your scheme determine that the outstanding pension benefit is payable to Kathleen's estate or to me as the appropriate beneficiary, I would be grateful if the funds could be paid into this account. Naturally, I appreciate that you may require specific documentation or further verification before any payment can be authorised, and I am more than willing to provide whatever information you require.

I fully appreciate that pension death benefits are subject to the rules of the pension scheme and that you must undertake your own due diligence before determining the appropriate recipient. This matter is of great personal importance to me, not only because of my responsibilities in administering Kathleen's affairs, but also because I wish to ensure that both her wishes and David's affairs are finally settled after so many years.
